Truro Trend

Truro Trend, which we deliver and fund, aims to promote and celebrate the city’s great range of independent and high street brands, along with hair and beauty businesses, with the high-profile ‘Catwalk at the Cathedral’.

During February 2022 we invited over 70 fashion, hair and beauty businesses to join in with the Truro Trend Catwalk at the Cathedral, planned for May 2022. Unfortunately, we had to make the hard decision to postpone the event as not enough businesses across fashion, hair and beauty we able to commit to taking part.

Truro Trend Fashion, Hair and Beauty week last took place before Covid at the start of October in 2019. It was the fifth time the event had taken place and we celebrated and supported our great little city’s high street with more in-store offers and events than ever before.

During the week, to attract existing and new customers, there were 52 in-store activities across 43 different businesses; ranging from big high street names and smaller boutiques, to hair and beauty businesses.

The highlight of the week, the Catwalk at the Cathedral fashion show took place on Wednesday 9 October. Truro Cathedral was transformed with a catwalk stretching the length of the nave and the evening was captured in a short film

Marketing Truro Trend

We've promoted Truro Trend with a combination of:

  • posters in the public realm and at Truro businesses
  • advertising in local print media
  • media releases where we gained media coverage on BBC Radio Cornwall, BBC Spotlight
  • Truro park and ride screens
  • E-marketing to local women (via school e-newsletter)
  • social media activity and a competition on @trurotrend (Facebook, Instagram)
Participating businesses helped promote Truro Trend by chatting to customers and selling Catwalk tickets.

Visit Truro also promoted Truro Trend on visittruro.org.uk and on their social media channels (@visittruro).

For its fourth event in 2018, the Catwalk at the Cathedral was a sell-out with close to 600 people attending or taking part. BBC Spotlight did some filming so our great little fashion city made TV on the night too!
